Sumedha is a Senior Manager with the Energy Program at World Resource Institute India. Her primary focus areas are building sector decarbonization and urban energy transition. She plays a global role as the project manager for the Zero Carbon Buildings Accelerator (ZCBA), which helps government address building sector carbon dioxide emissions through national ZCB roadmaps, subnational action plans and initiating adoption of policies to support stakeholders to accelerate market transformation towards ZCBs. Sumedha also leads the work on energy transition in Indian cities and the program’s initiatives on building efficiency, understanding residential sector energy use and conducting research on behaviour change interventions in the energy sector. As a part of programmatic efforts, Sumedha supports research and stakeholder engagement on clean energy transition and energy governance.

Prior to WRI, Sumedha worked at ICF International providing advisory services on energy efficient appliances, Demand Side Management and Low Emissions Development projects. Sumedha has co-authored book chapters and several articles on climate and energy topics in peer reviewed journals.

Sumedha holds a Master’s in Natural Resources Management from TERI University in New Delhi, India.

Sumedha loves cooking, enjoys reading, travelling, exploring national parks and upcycling. Sumedha stays in Bengaluru with her husband and Yammo, her cat.
