Roundtable on Decarbonising Transport in India

Roundtable on Decarbonising Transport in India

The flagship report of the NDC-Transport for Initiative (NDC-TIA) Council for Decarbonizing Transport in Asia – “The Path to Zero: A Vision for Decarbonised Transport in Asia” – spotlights both the opportunities and challenges associated with achieving net zero transport emissions by 2050 in Asia.

To deliberate on the NDC-TIA Council’s report findings and highlight the renewed importance of the transport sector contribution to achieve India’s enhanced NDCs, NITI Aayog in partnership with WRI India is organizing a roundtable discussion titled "Path To Zero – Status and Vision for Decarbonising Transport in India” on 5th September 2022 from 2.30-4.30 PM IST at NITI Aayog.

The discussion will bring together policy and research experts working on the topic of transport decarbonization on one platform, for a deep-dive conversation on India’s vision and pathways for a zero-emission transport sector. The transport sector contributes to about 14% of India’s energy-related CO2 emissions and is also the fastest growing sector in terms of emissions. Decarbonizing the transport sector is a prerequisite for the country to achieve its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets and to ensure continued economic growth.
